XBMCFreak Livecd 9.11 v12

Wederom een nieuwe versie. Reden voor het zo snel uitkomen is de nieuwe kernel die door Ubuntu online is gezet. De nieuwe kernel heeft echter ook een nadeel. Het is niet meer mogelijk een upgrade script te maken. Wil je dus gebruik maken van v12 dan dien je zelf ervoor te zorgen dat je de kernel upgrade en daarna ook de nvidia drivers.

- hourly script verstuurd geen e-mails meer naar root
- makemkv v1.4.12
- permissies aangepast voor makemkv en makemkvcon, dit is volgens sommigen de oplossing voor het Blu-Ray script probleem
- kernel 2.6.31-19
- coretemp.ko opnieuw gecompileerd voor 2.6.31-19-generic

    Goed werk Piethein. Heb alleen v11 geïnstalleerd op mijn asrock ion 330 HT.

    Het meeste werkt goed uit de box. Hij is nu alleen nog bezig met indexeren van de library. Daarnaast heb ik de remote nog niet aan de praat gekregen.

    Denk dat ik nog even wacht met updaten. Hopelijk komt 10.5 heel snel :)

    Thank you very much for all the hard work that you put in to these builds. The frequency of updates is really good keep it up.

    Thanks XBMCFreak, well done.

    Thanks for all!

    You can change the settings in /etc/samba/smb.conf at the bottom of the file.

    Example:
    [xbmc]
    comment = XBMC Share
    path = /home/{USERNAME}/
    force user = {USERNAME}
    inherit permissions = yes
    read only = No
    guest ok = Yes

    just replace the {USERNAME} with your normal xbmc user (which prob is xbmc)
    Just change that under the sections and it should be fine.
    Dont forget to backup and type “sudo samba restart” after that

    Dear XBMC Freaks,

    I’m about to buy an Asrock ION HT and intend to install XBMC live on it.

    As I have absolutely no Linux experience whatsoever, I was wondering about a few things. I hope this is the right place to ask them (I think it might be, as I will be using one of the XBMCfreak distributions)

    * Does WIFI work out of the box?
    * Will mounting an eSata drive be plug and play (or at least easy enough for a Linux-Noob
    * would I be able to store content on a NAS, and have XBMC index from there without too much trouble.

    Thanks for any and all reactions !

    Mark,

    I am using a Synology. It took me 2 minutes to add video/music directories to xbmc. Works really really well! Haven’t tried WIFI/eSata.

    Cheers,
    Roland

    Thank you!

    Hi,

    Thanks for this. I needed to rebuild my ASROCK ION 330 as i just could not get my power settings to work (and kept freezing when i sent a library update via http). This saved alot of time.
    I have ran into 2 issues which i can not get past and maybe you know of the answer.
    1) XBMC can not see any windows network shares, can connect via SMB directly to the IP but in MyVideos34.db, all my media is located at smb://DROBOSHARE/blah. Tried a search and replace to use IP instead of name but kills XBMC on startup. For now i have added it to my hosts file which works, but slower to load the video.

    2) Can not get LIRC to work with my MCEUSB remote. dmesg shows the IR device but does not show up in lsusb. possibly a bug in the 2.6.31-19 kernel?

    Well reinstalled from the same CD now the windows network browsing works…very odd. Lirc still wont work for my mceusb remote but will try and remove 0.8.6 and put on 0.8.2 where i know it worked… not sure if that version supports this kernel but fingers crossed. This CD is awesome. rebuilt with V11, SV and V12 in under an hour. all works bar the remote with is a lirc or kernel issue i think. Nice one!

    I had this problem but found that it worked again after restarting my router and pc (probably only needed to restart one of them though).

    Went trying to install form CD i get this error where it will loop back @ 97% (running preseed) everytime. I can’t get pass this installation.
    Any idea what is causing it, I can install from CD Live 10 no problem but not in Live 12.

    I have the same problem as Andrew with my Asrock Ion 330, v12 cant see any of my SMB shares on my Synology NAS (v10 and vanilla XBMC Live can). v12 can see the UPnP server on the NAS and no settings have changed at all.

    I tried reinstalling v12, rebooting my router and restarting my NAS all to no effect.

    Very strange not sure whats going on as everything looks normal.

    I’m not sure why this is caused. Maybe a new version of Samba was pushed while creating the livecd? I’m not sure. What’s your xbmc.log saying?

    Thanks Piethein heres the pastebin log

    Even odder after leaving it for an hour or two it now sees the workgroup but cannot access it.

    Apologies Piethein I just re-installed XBMC Live vanilla and the problem is still happening, through some fluke coincidence something is up with my network, it was working fine before I installed the v12 build but something must have happened at the same time.

    So no problem on your end just mine.

    A little confused over the various builds…..

    Just discovered this website today, after searching XBMC on how best to setup my new Acer Revo 3600 (alreas proud owner of Asrock 330Pro with stock Camelot)…

    Whats the difference between this 911v12 and XbmcFreak live SVN 27,500

    Is there a list where I can see differences between the official Camelot 911, and these custom builds…????

    Thanks

    I’m also having SMB issues with v12. With previous versions it worked perfectly out-of-the-box. Can only find workgroup “WORKGROUP” whereas I specified a different name in the network setup.

    uPnP doesn’t work properly either, does not build a library…

    @Steve

    And also a fresh install of v11 has this issue… sigh… back to v10. Good thing I always keep a “stable” Live version on a USB stick for when I really need XBMC to run.

    Embarasingly my issue with my mceusb remote was down to a bad connection on the usb cable and the usb ports…Back on the SMB issue, i tried rebooting the system many times but was unable to see anything. After a while i was able to see the workgroup but only the local machine XBMCLive. I decided to stick on V11, and i could see the Workgroup, then tried the SVN version, again was able to see the Workgroup. Finaly i stuck V12 on again and now i could see the Workgroup. No reason to it that i can see. I did use my .xbmc directory each time (4Tb of media that im not scanning again or setting the watched flags again) so i dont know if there was a config issue in my userdata folder or something that got fixed by using V11 or the SVN version? Grasping at straws there but it is all working perfectly for me now.

    Might want to downgrade the MakeMKVCon to 1.4.11 as the included 1.4.12 throws a ‘Segmentation Fault’ error while starting.
