Hallo,

Anyone get the MCE remote to wake PC on this build??
I’v tried to add
echo US15> /proc/acpi/wakeup
(which i think is my remote)
to
/etc/rc.local
still no luck…
Thanks!
Thanks for the new build, it works (almost) fine here on my ION 330 HT-BD
Pointers i came across, maybe useful for other people:
- Remote didn’t work out of the box (had to install 9.10 drivers from asrock), but that’s the same as the last build i used so no biggie.
- Turns out my tv isn’t a ac3 or dts capable receiver, so i had to adjust the audio settings a bit for hdmi before i had audio in all my files.
- Last point: sources.xml was owned by root, not by me.
The last point had me searching for a while, my sources i added kept disappearing from the FILES menu on music, videos etc. This while the library still seemed fine, and that last one also kept refreshing when i told it to.
Then i saw you added a sources.xml and i took a look in .xbmc/userdata to see it was owned by root. There were some other files there also for root, but i chmodded this one and it works for me now.
@BigB
which asus board are u trying with? Im about to install it on my new asus at5iont-i today. Hope it works
Network card doesnt work on asus at5iont-i
Just rebooted the machine and now the network card is working perfect.. very strange =) well thanks for a very nice job with xbmclive
I successfully installed it on my Revo 1600. Weather acts really strange, took 10+ attempts to customize it. I don’t have any add ons installed and it cannot find any when I tell it to look for them on xbmc.org
Any thoughts?
Hi,
I’ve installed this release to pendrive (Asrock A330ION board+2G RAM) and it takes ages to boot. Approx 2 min to appear Ubuntu logo and more half or one minute to apper XBMC menu. I’ve tried ‘offical’ XBMC Live release, it boots up 50s from same pendrive. Any idea?
Thanks,
Peter
Hi,
I’ve installed this release on my machine. All is fine, runing smooth but I have no sound over HDMI or Optical. I have Nvidia GT220 installed. On Win7 machine is work fine HDMI/SPDIF got sound on both.
What can I do? I’ve tried to change audio sett-many combinations all same.
Any help with this?
And also XBMC wont remember source path from my NAS after reboot ??
Thanks
Just installed this on my Acer Revo R3610. Sound works great (unlike the official XBMC 9.11 release) and I can play SD videos, but not one MKV I tried works, even though they are playable using XBMC run on windows on a different PC. Any ideas?
@diggyz I use the ASUS at3n7a-i
I fixed it, it was my fault for trying to play MKVs from my PC using UPnP. However, we reason I did this was an Error 2 share not available as soon as I try and select SMB from the list of protocols. Anyone seen this and/or fixed it?
I have this same problem on Acer Revo 3610, about 2 minutes to get to ubuntu screen and then eventually to XBMC. I posted this on xbmc forums too but nothing has worked. XBMCFreak 9.11 ver.10 works without such a long boot time, but was really wanting to use this new version. Anyone have a fix?
I get a error message when I boot the live cd
error: cannot read the linux header
error: you need to load the kernel first
http://www.fastsearch.ws/xbmcfreak/xbmcfreak-10.08-svn32696-lucid1.zip
This releases freezes on my Zotac Zbox HD-11 within 15 seconds of starting.
Johan bedankt!
any chance you can share us the command line, or script you use to build your live cd’s? I have all build dependencies installed, latest svn 33071, now what? where do i go from there, can you share a bit of your knowledge? pls email me in case you care to share at tobias@yabu.be
cheers
@Chris
i think i had the same problem, i entered my username/password in an option before browse, dont have unit on at the moment, worked perfect after that.
Thank you for the great LiveCD builds. I have been using the “old” v14 happpily many months with my Asus EB1501 (ION-based mini PC).
With the new LiveCD 10.08 svn32696 I have a problem similar to some of them people here: the XBMC won’t start. The startup gets stuck while “Ubuntu” text is on the screen and after that nothing happens. It gets stuck. Some guys say it gets past this oafter 2 minutes but not in my case. I’ve left it there for over 10 minutes.
It doesn’t even allow me to SSH to the machine while being stuck.
I’ve done the USB Live media with Unetbootin v4.71.
For those wishing to fix the problem with sources.xml / Sources being lost on reboot.
Use putty to log in to the xbmc and execute the following command: sudo chown -R xbmc:xbmc /usr/share/xbmc
Thanks,that did the job for me.
Only thing is not working for me is using Optical and HDMI at the same time.
When I use
Audio: ice958
Passthrough: ice958
Then I all sound goes to my receiver using OPTICAL.But with this configuration HDMI on TV only outputs the navigation sound of XBMC.
To be able to use HDMI i need to use next config:
Audio: HDMI
Passthrough: HDMI
How can I manage to use both outputs without having to change it everytime I want to use one of them?
Using the 9.11 live version i had no problem using dual sound.
No problem
I forgot, another command is needed aswell: sudo chown -R xbmc:xbmc /home/xbmc/
This time tried to install from usb thumb drive (instead of from external dvd drive) to another usb thumb drive. Same results long time to boot to ubuntu screen, but if I just run live straight from the thumb drive it boots to xbmc in about 35-40 seconds. Any ideas?
I burnt this to a CD, and tried using unetbootin to create a bootable USB stick. Neither worked. They just sit on a black screen with a flashing cursor. Unable to type.
@Jahya
I had no problem using unetbootin 4.71 on XP to make a bootable USB stick directly from the unpacked iso on the harddrive.
Ok im kinda new….how do you install this?? i tried installing like anyother but when i try booting i get errors and a black screen that doesnt do anything…..how do you guys install this??
@Jozua
I tried both the ASRock 9.10 and 10.04 lirc driver, both don’t seem to work on my ASRock ION 330HT.
The ASRock 9.10 IR driver did work on XBMCLive 9.11…
Any tips?
You download the zip archive, unzip it, then burn the resulting ISO to a CD.
Once this is done, you can just boot from that CD to install XBMC.
maybe overstating it a little, for those who can,t seem to install:
the freakcd only works on ION-platform…
@sonik
hahah not true
i installed on a barebone asus with nvidia 9300 gpu and a e5200 cpu and is working magik. also i downgraded the cpu at 1.2 ghz because it wasnt needed its real power and is running perfectly, not this build but the first release of 10.08
I DONT UNDERSTAND YOUR DUTCH LANGUAGE AT ALL!!! I DONT LIKE GOOGLE TRANSLATE BECAUSE AUTOMATATION IS NOT SO GOOD IN TRANSLATION. I CAN SEE YOU LIKE YOUR LANGUAGE VERY MUCH. RELAX YOURSELF AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE BLOG. A LOT OF GUYS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES SPEAK A LANG USED GENERALLY LIKE ENGLISH. SO BE KIND, LEAVE THE DUTCH BEHIND A LITTLE BIT AND LEARN HOW TO WRITE IN ENGLISH. YOU ARE DOING A VERY GOOD JOB WITH THIS BUILDS AND ITS A SHAME TO GET LOST IN TRANSLATION.
@lester
ive tried this but when its finish installing and i eject the disc….i get errors and just get a blank screen…
@brebe24
Hello,
First time I’m posting. I’ve built a HTPC with the new ASUS AT5IONT-I (I’m an early adopter). I have tried the “normal” Ubuntu 10.04 with updated video and audio drivers, XBMC 09.11, Boxee and now bmcfreak LiveCD 10.08 svn32696. The last one only as ‘live cd’. The 32696 is the best one but I still have two problems. The picture is not centered on my TV-screen (plasma LG 50PS8000); it’s on the left so I can’t see all controls and with wide screen material is the picture cut a little on the left and there is a border (empty space) on the right. It’s a little better on the svn32696 but the problem still exists and isn’t acceptable. The problem is the same if I let the video pass the receiver or go directly to the screen
The second problem is that I can’t get any sound with HDMI to my receiver (Pioneer LX51). I have adjusted to digital audio and NVIDIA-HDMI.
I’m prepared to install the svn32696 (or a later build) as they seem very good but can someone help me with my problems? As it is now is my HTPC almost useless. I can of course try to use the optical out instead of HDMI but that doesn’t solve the problem with the video.
I’m very grateful for all help I can get!
@brebe24
Never knew some English speaking countries only use the capital part of the alphabeth
There has been a discussion on this blog a long time ago about keeping the blog Dutch or switching to an all English blog. At that time, most contributors and regular visitors were Dutch. Despite that, the founder made most parts of the site bi-lingual. Switch to http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/en for the English articles.
Bear in mind that translating articles and/or posting articles in multiple languages is quite a job. And that most (regular) visitors are still Dutch.
@nrdlnd
1. In your video settings, there is an option called something like ‘Calibrate video’. With this option you can adjust the top-left and bottom-right limit of the screen.
2. Search Google for ‘asound unmute’. Probably a channel is muted, which you can unmute via the asound mixer in the console.
For both sollutions, I don’t know the exact terms by heart, but it’ll give you a direction to search in
Hey! I installed this version of XBMCLive and it works fine. But I can’t seem to play .rar archives! Why? Appreciate help!
@brebe24:
First of all DO NOT SHOUT
Second of all,as far as I know this site is build by a Dutch guy who is,luckly for us, doing a great job making live easy for US ION users.
If you are looking for a 100% english forum please use the XBMCFreak livecd Topic on the XBMC forum.

Got a problem with alsamixer not saving.
I need to reduce the levels of some of the channels.
So Ive gone through the usual routine of removing the “setvolume” from grub then ran update-grub to save it to the config.
run alsamixer set the desired levels
run alsactl store 0
In 9.11 this would set my levels how I wanted them instead of all being topped out.
In this latest release (svn32696) after a reboot the levels return to what they were before
Is there any thing additional I need to be doing to save the alsamixer settings ??
Cheers
is it possible to simply update?
btw, is it possible to only get the advancedsettings.xml?
