XBMCbuntu beta 3 version with improved installer

Update 13 Feb 2012, version v32 with the following fixes/changes:

  • Fix: Ubiquity installer will handle the vesa driver
  • Fix: Addons skel dir, so addons are copied to user dir
  • Fix: corrupted text for several languages on installer

I’m having issues with the installer on my Asrock ION 330HT, the size of the letters is fine, it’s the size of the windows/display manager/X that is the problem, see http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1374446/2012-02-18%2017.34.34.jpg
And this was after I disabled window decorations, otherwise the buttons at the bottom aren’t even visible.
The signal that my tv is receiving (over HDMI) is 1920×1080@60Hz, which is normal.
nvidia drivers get loaded, dmesg mostly looks normal only weird thing i see is:

init: udev-fallback-graphics main process (2020) terminated with status 1

  2. Has anyone been able to install this on a Zotac e350 Fusion without Windows?

I can get everything working connected via an HDMI to a monitor but cannot get any video output past the initial boot-up BIOS and XBMC splash screens on any HDMI connected TV. I tried connecting via a Denon 3311 receiver, natively to an LCD and Plasma TV with the exact same result – no video. I can remote ssh or IP connect to the XBMC and all’s well, just no HDMI video on TV. Would updating the video drivers help? If yes, which one and, frankly – how?

    Thank you for any help.

    Lev

@Lev do you also have this error in your dmesg?

init: udev-fallback-graphics main process (2020) terminated with status 1

  4. t11r,

I can let you know if you tell me how to find out… Someone on the XBMC forum replied to my post, having the exact same issue with the same Zotac Fusion board.

    Piethein,

The v32-installer works fine on my Celeron/Nvidia htpc system. But…

Why is the ‘\’ key still not disabled? Pressing this key (accidentally) again resized my XBMC window to a non-maximized state beyond the reach of the mouse cursor. The X mouse cursor appears, but pressing ‘\’ doesn’t remaximize the XBMC window. I now have to find and attach a mouse, just to move the mouse cursor onto the small XBMC window (to give it focus), so the ‘\’ then actually works again… :-\

In OpenELEC this has been fixed a long time ago. I understand that perhaps we can edit the keyboard file ourselves, but the current default behavior of the keyboard is totally unnecessary. Disable the ‘\’ by default, and resizing the XBMC window will simply not happen, intentionally or accidentally. Personally, I don’t see any advantage is being able to resize the XBMC window. Please fix it.

  6. Works great as a live boot from USB key on my Zotac ION 330A , but installing to disk just doesn’t boot from my 60GB CORSAIR SSD, just asks me to insert a bootable media. First tried upgrade of existing XBMC – no good, then tried completely erasing all partitions etc. and stil no joy….. currently can’t boot unless its from USB – any help appreciated :/

A simple question: how to update from beta 2 to beta 3 (xbmclive)

What do you think about disabling the default \ key behavior in XBMCbuntu? See for example: http://dustint.com/post/308/xbmc-disable-windowed-mode-shortcut

It is quite an annoyance when running in live mode when i accidentally hit the \ key and the XBMC window s made small with no way of returning to full screen mode.

This issue will be fixed in the next XBMCbuntu version!
