You might be wondering; “Where’s my Maverick XBMC LiveCD”. The good news is that last night I completed the development of this one. It’s fast as hell and everything works as expected! VDPAU, Nvidia, Alsa, XBMC it all seems to work. That’s the good news!
The bad news for you guys is that you have to wait a little bit longer. I’m now a official members of the Team-XBMC. With respect for the XBMC developers I decided to hold of the Maverick LiveCD till the development of Dharma is completed. The bug tracking is already hard enough with multiple versions of the livecd. About that; please don’t file bug reports when using the XBMCFreak livecd. Only use official livecd’s van xbmc.org for that.
The XBMCFreak LiveCD Maverick will be released as soon Dharma is final.

Punt is ook dat de XBMC versie die ik gebruikt heb een custom is en geen “echte” Beta3. Als gebruikers hiermee bugs gaan loggen is het voor de Devs echt heel lastig te begrijpen wat er eventueel mis kan gaan. Hopelijk duurt het niet lang meer voordat Dharma helemaal af is!
Thats complete B/S. With all due respect to Team-XBMC, they aren’t great in keeping us informed on the progress. Also, I have never had an “official” LIVE CD ever really work without tons of hassel and fiddling. Your XBMCFreak releases work almost flawlessly. If you have a nice working copy of XBMC Maverick, why deprive everyone something that “actually WORKS”. I commend Team XBMC but again they aren’t really on-board with quick updates, working copies, or even information. Your site updates its followers almost EVERYDAY. Sadly, I think your “offical Team XBMC Status” compromises the wonderful work that you once provided.
Zal VA-API ondersteund worden in deze versie? Met de nieuwe Dharma release wordt dit nog steeds niet gebruikt bij mijn i3 530. Ik blijf af en toe met framedrops zitten en wil dit graag in de toekomst niet meer zien.
Waarschijnlijk wel. Als Piethein de linux kernel 2.6.36 (final) meeneemt in deze live, dan werk dat standaard
Wordt de officiele LiveCD van XBMC dan niet Maverick?
Het is ieder geval fijn om te hebben (als deze echt sneller is). Ik hoop dat er ook een LiveCD komt met niet alle “troep” die in de vorige LiveCDs zit. Clean en basic vind ik het fijnst. De rest is allemaal wel los te downloaden of in te stellen.
Hoe is het trouwens met Silverlight in de LiveCD? Werkt dat al goed?
Volgens mij werkt de laatste CIR driver van ASrock alleen maar met linux kernel versie 2.6.32-23.
Ik heb de kernel van beta3 ook moeten downgraden naar deze versie om de remote control werkend te krijgen.
Waarom is dat?
99,99999% van de keren dat zoiets gebeurd zorgt het ervoor dat de creatievelingen in de pas moeten gaan lopen met het establishment.

It’s great to know that you are now a member of the XBMC developer team, but very sad to know that you won’t be releasing a maverick livecd until dhrama final debuts.
- I really hope to can reconsider this. You can just add a warning for people using it to not hammer the xbmc forums with questions about it and everyone would be happy:
- your fans, for getting to try your latest work
- you, for knowing that you made alot of people happy
- and xbmc developer team, for knowing that maverick is already being tested and after dharma debuts the bug reports regarding maverick will have matured.

i think that foremost we should respect the amount of work Piethein is putting into this. And he should go about it anyway he wants.
We don´t pay him, we don´t employ him, so i can have no sympathy at all for people claiming he should make different choices. Its his project….

. Een livecd versie (of een installatie optie) zonder zaken als SabNZBD, Transmission, Samba en proftpd zou erg fijn zijn! Een soort “LiveCD voor mensen die al een NAS hebben” dus 
En toch vind ik dat zowel PietHein als Team XBMC erg goed werk doen! En ik hoop dat het livecd werk van PietHein ook ten goede komt aan de LiveCD’s van team XBMC zelf.

On the other hand: it takes just 1 command via SSH to remove sabnzbd/transmission at the moment, so why ask Piethein to go through the extra hussly to create two seperate Live cd’s! Better would be to create a small tuturial to remove anything you don’t want.

Er is voor ieder wat wils op de markt. De 1 wil graag alles op en aan, de ander wil zo min mogelijk op het systeem.
Ik draai met beide xbmcfreak live en openelec (in jouw geval zal ik openelec draaien) en met beide zeer content

It was first sheduled for end of June, right? 4 month overdue.. and not even a Release Candidate… Whats coming next… Beta 4? RC1? How much RCs will come ?
I dont think for a final release till end of year… I really dont know what to do… I bought a new HTPC System 2 weeks ago and I can do nothing, because Im waiting for something like “final” or at least with “maverick”.. dont want to setup and configure the whole thing to see 2 days later a other version… Yes I know I can upgrade, but I prefer the clean style
Nu je harde kern lid van XBMC ben, wil ik je vragen of je kan en mag vertellen of er nog meer beta’s en/of RC’s komen van Maverick.
En waarin zal jouw “LiveCD Maverick” straks verschillen van de normale “Dharma LiveCD” van XBMC?
Dus niemand kan wat zeggen over de exacte release datum van Dharma?
Het zou echter mooi zijn als je vanaf de installatie al kan instellen wat je wel en niet wilt installeren op het systeem.
Misschien een poll’etje. De meeste stemmen gelden. Verder vind ik dat alles wat via de add-on repository wordt aangeboden er niet standaard in moet.
First off; I’m very happy that Piethein is providing this for us and that his effort is being recognized by inviting him into the XBMC team.
With regards to the installed software… making separate cd’s sounds a bit more complicated then it needs to be… (you could argue for any possible combination) where as enabling and disabling software is quite easy…
If your using an installed version you can just ssh in and disable things by using the Debian/Ubuntu scripts or installing ‘rcconf’ package.
So why not have all the things on the CD (there is room enough as it is) and have it all enabled like it is now. Which seems like a logical default and then use a combination of the persistent usb-stick and normal debian start/stop scripts for disk install to enable/disable software.
Biggest part of the effort should be writing a little bit of Python code to have a nice addon available that enables/disables specific features.
Why not post the buildscripts used to make the Maverick live-cd? This way, only the tech savvy can build, test and use the CD and they’ll understand how to report bugs?
I am also interested in build scripts for maverick.

The devs just fixed the build dependency problems on Maverick: http://trac.xbmc.org/changeset/34993
I really suggest to wait a little bit longer. The current build scripts don’t use a official XBMC version and also policykit-1 dependency isn’t fixed in this build. This makes upgrading even harder. Just be patient and wait for an official Maverick XBMC package.
Ik mag alleen maar zeggen wat ik nog niet heb gehoord. De devs willen zo snel mogelijk Dharma uitbrengen. Waarschijnlijk is de volgende versie een RC. Wanneer Dharma precies uitkomt durf ik niet te voorspellen.

Juist. Ik hoef ook echt alleen maar at ik nodig heb. Draai op een Asrock ION, dus elke feature die ik niet nodig heb is weer processor kracht voor de rest!

Just wanted to say your builds are the best for ASRock HTPC, however, I’m not quite the pro on linux and would love to get the Maverick build for XBMC. Sure you can’t reconsider posting this for general consumption?
Just a tip: maybe you should add curl, subversion and unzip to the required packages you check at the start of build.sh, since you need those packages to run the script

Awe, can’t I get a pre-release sample? I never tried Live until just recently on an Ion2 I purchased and it was great. Except I had problems with sound and I needed 1.0.23 and Maverick. It seems this jetway atom 525 with ION2 requires 10.10 and 1.0.23.
SUre would be great and I promise not to keep my mouht shut.

Is er een guide of iets soortgelijks om uw Maveric versie te compileren voor een minimal 10.10 install? Kan je dit eerst op een desktop doen ( compilen op ion gaat traag ). Ik vind in de readme geen stappen howto (config/make, enz ).
Beter nog zou een Maveric iso zijn
