This new XBMCFreak livecd is a generic livecd which can be used for all platforms. Intel, AMD, Nvidia are all supported. The optimalizations on this livecd are splitted up into different sections for each kind of hardware or platform. The livecd also contains many programs which should be configured to work out of the box. The XBMC 9.11 binaries remain the same. The use of the livecd is at your own risk! The xbmcfreak generic version contains the following changes when comparing against the original xbmc 9.11 livecd:
Nvidia ION optimalizations:
- advancedsettings.xml added to show cpu and gpu temperature
- .asoundrc with triple audio output (nvidia ion)
- coretemp.ko compiled and added to show cpu temperature
Nvidia optimalizations:
- Nvidia ext3 packages uses 20% less space on the livecd
- nvclock added
CrystalHD optimalizations:
- CrystalHD drivers added which will be loaded when a CrystalHD is found. CrystalHD can only be used with XBMC SVN, so in order to use the CrystalHD you have to upgrade manually to SVN.
Other changes:
- Created with the latest package versions, for example kernel 2.6.31-19 is added.
- lm-sensors, wget, lynx, lftp, ftp, zip, wireless-tools, wpasupplicant, added.
- Predefined user folders added after the boot or installation.
- Samba added multiple shares to the predefined user folders.
- Proftpd added

Thank you for your hard work, unfortunately the install is failing on my Asus AT3N7A-I (I’ve used both CD and USB thumb drive). It seems to get through almost everything then errors out at the end. with an “Installation failed”.

nvidia.sh staat in de volgende versie onder /usr/share/xbmc/tools/
index.html heb ik aangemaakt met de linkjes naar de services.
up- en downgraden is nog steeds lastig, maar zal erover nadenken.

Generic XBMCFreak 9.11 livecd
This is probably a first version in a new series XBMCFreak LiveCDs that will come true. The big difference is that the changes now works for AMD and Intel users. Furthermore, the driver crystalhd added in preparation for the next version of XBMC 10.05. Would you use the crystalhd driver then you should upgrade yourself to a SVN version of XBMC.
The XBMC 9.11 binaries are also not adjusted. I have a lot of things have to change, so there is a chance that this version contains errors. It is also used at your own risk and errors in the 9.11 version of XBMC are xbmc.org course, this version will emerge. nice work woth the live cds, but v2 of the generic live image doesnt work for m either, same problem as everyone else. Im running a zotac ion itx a. Also cpu and gpu temps arent shown in system info.

I have a foxconn nt330i and so far this is one of the only xbmc install that works with my system. I have been able to get it to work with ubuntu karmic 64bit and your generic package.
I am affected by the “error probing smb2″ bug. I did the acpi_enforce_resources=lax trick on grub and was able to get xbmc to boot, but my main problem is as soon as I get into xbmc it takes up 100% of the cpu and is unusable.
This all let me to your new generic install. I put it on a flash drive and it boots right up and everything is normal. But after I reboot it freezes on every boot after that. Do you know what could be causing this? Is there a way for me to do a persistent install with this and get it to work consistently?
