Here’s a new iso based on Ubuntu 12.04 and the latest version of XBMC (Frodo). This version contains the PVR functionality and all improvements that has been made to the core due to the Raspberry Pi Support. Other new items worth mentioning are covered here: http://xbmc.org/natethomas/2012/09/06/xbmc-august-2012-cycle/
A remark on this release is that many changes were added lately and that things might be broken.
Direct download is here: http://xbmcfreak.binkey.nl/xbmcbuntu-11.9-wsnipex-testing-v6.iso
now that was super fast. I only posted a message yesterday for an updated version including PVR and today it it here. I think maybe you were already working on this new edition.
thy u are the best ! With: “sudo apt-get install –reinstall xbmc” can i update from v4 to v5 ? And how can i to Update my ATI Driver ?
Can you please inform us if the 100%-cpu-usage-on-one-core-bug has been fixed?
Best regards,
freakandelle
I downloaded v5.iso twice and tried a few different cds and but keep getting casper/vmlinuz file not found!
Love your work BTW
Yep, me too get also casper/vmlinuz file not found!
bootable USB made with LILI (latest version) something wrong with the ISO !
Please investigate Piet Hein…
blokr,
just to be shure i installed version xbmcbuntu-11.9-wsnipex-testing-v4 at the same way again and installed with no issues….
v5
casper/vmlinuz file not found
**fixed** open with UltraISO and rename /casper/initrd.img-3.2.0-30-generic-pae to /casper/initrd.lz and also /casper/vmlinuz-3.2.0-30-generic-pae to /casper/vmlinuz
Quick question: if I’m currently running the older stable 11.10 xbmcfreak xbmcbuntu, can I simply upgrade by sticking this on a USB key and installing as an upgrade? In other words, will it not only update to 12.04, but update the xbmc as well? Or is there a better way to do this from command line, through a ppa?
I’m not so much worried about maintaining the xbmc settings, as I am keeping my Sabnzbd, Couchpotato, etc. all in place. Can anyone offer some suggestions? Running an a330ion, if it matters.
I published a new version (v6) which fixes for the vmlinuz not found. Could you please try again?
Works great. Thanks mate!
made a new USB bootalble disc with LiLi and installation seems to be ok.
After config i will report the rest, thanX for the fast support !
Hey, thanks for great work. One question:
is the bug with XVBA (seems like lack of V-sync) recognized and filled as issue?
Well, NO THANKS to anyone (lol), I’ve got 12.04 loaded (apparently), by doing a sudo apt-get upgrade. Funny, since I didn’t do a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade or anything like that, but whatever. XBMC still works, thankfully, but it’s not the September release. I tried a sudo apt-get install –reinstall xbmc, which apparently worked, but again, not the right version. Is there a way I can point it to the September release so I can get the new audioengine?
found an issue with crossing audio files in party mode (which i often use) you can set a 2 sec (or whatever) fading at the middle of 2 files but only the out going audio files fading as the ingoing file comes in suddenly… This was no issue in V4, maybe due to the new audio engine?
Further no issues at all, video is GOOD quality and no playback issues.
Thank You!!
Is the SMB user and pass save error fixed in this release?
I’ve been experimenting for a while for a Frodo solution, Openelec developer releases are too premature, this release looks OK, but how can I add PVR and BT support? TVHeadend client says access denied and where do I find the TVHeadend service for apt-get install? and is it an apt-get to run Transmission as a service?
Hi
I’m trying to install this but have hit a brick wall. Everything seems fine, files are copying but as soon as I’ve gotten to the part where you configure a user account the installer freezes when i hit “next”.
Not sure how to figure out what the prolem might be. Anyone have any ideas?
I’ve also tried previous versions with the same results.
Added Pulse-Eight ppa which worked for the missing services but found that none of my DVT-T USB tuners work. Also tried XBMCbuntu-11 and Ubuntu-12 and they don’t work either. Strange that they all work out of the box in recent OpenElec and PulseEight builds. Perhaps I’m missing a driver package. Isn’t this supposed to be a PVR release?
First i had the official XBMCbuntu 11.10 Version installed. Then i tried Ubuntu 12.04 and i love it but it comes with to much things installed.. after some weeks my Friend told me about your XBMCbuntu 12 Version.
Yesterday i tried the (V6) out.. installation works fine and everything runs good at the startup! Its fast and easy to use like my last XBMCbuntu Version 11.10, also the HDMI and VGA Drivers works better now on my machine (maybe this comes from the Ubunutu 12 Version, i dont know *g*) BUT now i had my 4th freeze after 24 Hours!
With fast switch between main Menu and the Settings XBMC freeze, also when i boot XBMC it freeze and thats without any information..! I know without a LOG File its hard to find out whats wrong on it but XBMC gives no information out.. it freeze only! :/
@piethein
Je mag mijn bovenstaande vraag negeren, ik heb het gevonden, hoe alles in elkaar steekt, vrij eenvoudig zelfs….
MrIcka,
Yes, no SMB errors in this release
Hi!
I cant find any instructions how to update. im currently at v3. Previously there was an option to “update” with the installer? If anyone could advice, it would awesome.
I have yet to get one of these releases to work properly. Things appear to run at first glance but 1080p video or a small number of 720p (probably high bitrate) stutter.
On original Eden release, I can play any video and the framerate is pegged solid 23.98fps. On a 1080p video, usually 1 cpu is 100%, the other 3, basically idle but perfect video playback.
With these builds, on a 1080p video, the fps jumps all over the place 26fps, 18, 22, 24, 20, etc causing the video to jerk and pause. I’ve tried all sorts of combinations in the video playback section and honestly, I don’t believe vdpau is actually enabled. If I turn it off, it’s no worse than when it’s on. This isn’t the case with stock xbmcubuntu 11.0 where it’s required to play 1080p solid.
I wish I could get a workable xbmc update because I am sick of the bug with pressing play too quickly and freezing up.
@DaveIsKickin
Try disabeling the in-menu sounds.
That fixed alot of freezes for me.
Just out of curiosity, which fglrx drivers are installed on this?
