XBMCbuntu 12.04 with pre-Frodo (end October release)

Here’s another XBMCbuntu release based on the latest October code. As the plans are currently drawn we can expect the final release of XBMC Frodo before the end of the year. Next month no more featuers will be added to the code base and a beta will be expected later. Please post your test results here;

Thanks!

Is is possible to upgrade from V5? Or do you have to install the V6 iso?

    I have a quick question:

I have a perfectly fine running XBMCubuntu Eden release.

Can I go ahead and do apt-get dist-upgrade to update to this version? Or do I need to download the USB image, re install everthing and do all my configuratios (such as network shares etc. etc.). Any idea?

It just does not make sense to re-install a full blown OS in order to get the latest XBMC release..

    Thanks!

  10. jacco says:

thanks for this update , superb as always.

I have some issues, somehow the xbmc commander remote is not working, when going to movies it crashes..

also i have an error calles random.py , does anybody knows this issue?

  11. Humbie says:

Net geïnstalleerd op mijn custom built HTPC, maar krijg audio over mijn NVidia GT640 HDMI niet in orde…
In alsamixer alles unmuted & in XBMC detecteert hij “HDA NVidia, PHL Philips FTV on HDMI”.

Any response? Would really be helpful!

can anyone confirm , does it reproduce hd formats ?

  14. Dean says:

Just tested on a new AMD Trinity chip. Does not install and drops out with a ‘hda_codec: cannot build error”. I’m assuming newer drivers are needed for the the new AMD FM2 chips ( I’m running a A6-5600k).

Any chance the new drivers can be included in the next build?

  15. Dean says:

    Dean,

To Follow up, I’m not sure what version of the catalyst drivers you included in this build, but I think 12.10 or later is needed to support FM2 chips.

  16. twilightzone says:

gave it a spin has some nice features i’m looking forward to but can’t run it. CPU usage on my revo 3610 is pinned out, 100% fans screaming. Leave the thing unusable.

  17. marshcroft says:

Had issues with audio through an ATI HDMI, due to the Nvidia driver being preinstalled, fixed it with this

    sudo apt-get install dh-make dh-modaliases execstack libqtgui4 build-essential libc6

    sudo apt-get remove fglrx* nvidia*

    wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10-x86.x86_64.zip

    unzip amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10-x86.x86_64.zip

    sudo sh amd-driver-installer-catalyst-12.10-x86.x86_64.run –buildandinstallpkg

    sudo service lightdm stop

    sudo aticonfig –initial -f
    sudo aticonfig –vs=on
    sudo aticonfig –set-pcs-u32=MCIL,HWUVD_H264Level51Support,1
    sudo reboot

  18. Wouter says:
