This is a first mod of the official XBMCbuntu version released by XBMC a couple of days ago. The new version brings bleeding-edge drivers for Nvidia and AMD, as found on the x-swat ppa repository.
Some people asked me on twitter if I will release a Nvidia ION optimized livecd in the near future. The answer is “no”, because all optimizations are already part of XBMCbuntu!
Note that the official XBMC community does not officially support this customized livecd. Therefore I would like to ask you to post your comments and questions only on this website!

Zitten hier dus alleen de laatste drivers in en de repository naar x-swat?
Dat heb ik gisteren juist al handmatig gedaan omdat ik dacht daar mijn overscan problemen in xbmcbuntu mee op te lossen op mijn 720p Tv (slaapkamer) maar dat hielp in ieder geval niet. Moest via de terminal een commando uitvoeren omdat de nvidia settings configuratie tool veel te groot weergaf op mijn tv en daarom kon ik de onderste kwart van de config niet zien waar die overscan mee in te stellen was. Was weer even leuk klieren, vanavond maar proberen of ik het geluid over HDMI werkend krijg vanaf mijn shuttle xs35gt…
En http://ftp... en netwerk shares.. en.. remote desktop.. en.. Ach we komen er wel!
Komt er (binnenkort) weer een versie uit met alle extra packages en configuratie wijzigingen?
Zoals transmission en sabnzbd?
Enorm bedankt!, deze versie nvidia drivers laat mijn systeem weer goed werken, waar eerst de boel hing zodra de grafische omgeving opstartte.

Wat bedoel je met xbmc-send?
Bij deze versie onthoudt hij mijn kalibratie van de tv scherm niet na restart, weet iemand hoe ik dat kan aanpassen? Boot hem op via USB.
I’m getting small text on install and I CAN’T SEE ANYTHING. This was an issue on one of the other beta builds why is this still an issue ?
How can i use 120dpi mode?
use unetbootin to create a usb installer and select the 120dpi option from the boot menu.

I tried this on a zotac ION330. Unable to playback video. What happens is that when I press play to begin a video, the XBMC UI remains and the background where the video would be is black but audio plays and the timer starts ticking. xbmc.log is showing:

I had been using all the EDEN beta’s and RC’s without issue.
This also happens with the regular xbmcubuntu release. Back to an older xbmcfreak release i guess :/

Installed fresh on Asrock Ion 330 yesterday.
Very nice performance out of the box, I came from Win7+xbmc on dedicated HTPC.
Full HD performed smooth even the well known test sequences (birds in the sky, the matrix and avatar fly through scenes)

thanks for this mod.
But i have an issue. After doing an apt-get dist-upgrade and a reboot it hangs on Checking battery state. Only solution i have found is pressing ctrl+alt+F1 and type “sudo service lightdm start”. But after the next reboot i get the same problem.
If this happens also with the regular release, maybe you can file a bug report of post on the official xbmc forum, so the VDPAU devs can have a look at this.

xbmc-send allow to send xbmc events/command from the promptline, thus practicly, I can execute a video library update (and cleanup) from the prompt. Scheduled from the prompt.

If I installed the official XBMCbuntu and then ran the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Would this be the same as your release, or is there something more?

New XBMC/distro but the same good old issues
Wake up from suspend does not work out of the box for my asrock 330 that has external (USB) Rf sensor 
How can I get SSH access with write permissions in the .xbmc folder? I need to restore a backup and the created user does not have write permissions.

Ik heb deze versie nu al meerdere keren proberen te installeren op mijn asrock 330. Alles lijkt goed te gaan maar uiteindelijk krijg ik een zwart scherm met alleen muisaanwijzer en hij install het dus niet verder.
Wat kan mijn probleem zijn of wat doe ik niet goed. Dit voorval heb ik zowel via cd als usbstick.

Audio Output = HDMI
Audio Output Device = Custom
Custom audio device = plug:both
Passthrough output device = custom
Custom passthrough device = plug:both
plug: bothe refers to an entry in ~/.asoundrc

had the same issue the last couple of dist-upgrades and new linux versions. just reinstall the NVIDIA drivers and you are okay.
Does this have the 4GB hard drive space minimum requirement? I’d like to install this on a 2GB thumb stick like I have the old XBMC Live versions, but the current XBMCbuntu release doesn’t support anything under 4GB

In fact, I have problem playing any video or mp3, XBMC restarts immediatelly. Asrock 330.
I had exactly the same issue, however I noticed it’s caused by the fact that I switched over to XBMCbuntu from the login screen once.
After selecting XBMC again lightdm is not started after a reboot.
Only way to get back to xbmc is by doing: sudo service lightdm start
However I have to do this every time after a reboot.
I can again select XBMCbuntu and then lightdm is started after a reboot but now I loose the automatic start of xbmc.
Piethein, do you know if this is related to XBMCbuntu (never tried it) or your version.
Vandaag had ik een vrije dag dus maar eens met deze versie aan de slag gegaan.
Het installeren gaat als een speer en het probleem met de smal front is ook perfect opgelost.
Na het installeren samba en sabnzbd en nog wat andere dingen begonnen met het testen van deze versie.
Het afspelen van allerlei muziek, films gaat perfect van zowel mijn nas als een externe HD.
Hierbij wil ik zowel Piethein als het hele xbmc team bedanken voor deze mooie versie
Ook met deze versie hangt mijn Asrock 152D na 15-20 minuten. Iemand een idee waarom?

Klopt het dat na een reboot(sluimerstand) van xbmc, de voorgaande versies (pre-eden) naar het start-scherm booten(resumen, en dat Eden boot(resumed) naar het scherm waar je de laatste keer gebleven was?? Ik zou graag zien, dat ik mijn asrock toch via mijn mce-remote aan kan zetten, maar dat hij wel altijd standaard naar het startscherm boot. Is dit mogelijk? En zo ja, waar kan ik daar iets over vinden?

Hier ook, XBMC begint plots te herstarten nada thet dagenlang fantastisch liep. Windows versie die ik hiervoor had ontwikkelde dezelfde afwijking. Heel vreemd, lijkt een stevig XBMC probleem.
apt-get update/upgrade heeft geen zin en lost niks op.
Enig idee?
Wat staat er in de xbmc.log? Zie je daar meldingen van ERROR’s?
