  3. When i get to the update and install xbmc step i get the following

    xbmc-data: Depends: xbmc-bin (< 1:9.11+svn28042-lucid1.1~) but 1:9.11+svn28256-jaunty1 is to be installed

  4. Stuart :

Are you 100% sure you’ve upgraded to 10.04?
9.11+svn28256-jaunty1 means you’re still on jaunty, Ubuntu or XBMC 9.04

  5. Definitely upgraded i get the 10.04 splash screen. Got past this error by deleting the xbmc folder in /usr/xbmc . Now redoing the steps i get

So i get an issue with xbmc-live

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
    libcdio7 libmysqlclient15off libfaad0
Use ‘apt-get autoremove’ to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
After this operation, 0B of additional disk space will be used.
    Setting up xbmc-live (1:9.11+svn28042-lucid1) …
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/xbmc-live missing LSB information
    update-rc.d: see
    start: Unknown job: xbmc-live
invoke-rc.d: initscript xbmc-live, action “start” failed.
    dpkg: error processing xbmc-live (–configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    xbmc-live
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

    Any suggestions?

total Linux n00b here. I’ve installed LIVE XBMC v14 and then I click the ‘exit XBMC’ button and I’m presented with a logon ‘XBMClive login:’ – where do I go from here please so I can then follow the steps outlined above? thank you.

    You saved my day!
XBMC working again on 10.04 with many new features. Awsome!

  11. Earl Grey

Damn! Shutdown only restarts XBMC :-) Any Ideas?

  12. I also need help with XBMC not shutting down, only restarting. Also, suspend not available after upgrade. thanks

  13. Hey, greeat stuff. However, vdpau is broken after the upgrade, nvidia 185(v 195). any clues on how to fix this? log–> http://pastebin.com/qx4g5xMG

    tnx again :)

  14. @Anders
I uninstalled all nvidia packages, and used this to fix it. Now all is well :)

  15. Didn’t work for me, When I get to sudo do-release-upgrade -d is tells me there is no such command.
    I’m using XBMC9.11 live.
    Any ideas.

  16. @linuxn00b
Linuxn00b. When you installed XBMCLive you where asked for a user name and password enter the user name you typed in during install and then the password.

  17. This is useless just wasted 3 hours of my time and have got no where.
I recommend you don’t bother as this doesn’t seem to work

The guide is possible outdated. If you want to upgrade I recommend using one of my latest livecd’s.
