Ubuntu 10.04 beta 1 is out. 10.04 will follow up Ubuntu 9.10 which is now part of the 9.11 and xbmcfreak livecd series. As soon as XBMC SVN gets more stable I’ll starting popping out 10.04 and XBMC SVN livecd’s. Ubuntu 10.04 will feature later packages like kernel 2.6.32 which contains the coretemp patches. Alsa 1.0.22.1 is also included in this release which should make Nvidia ION users very happy. Stay tuned!
Can’t wait
Have been using your LiveCD on my ASUS ION Build

Me too.

@Piethein:
BigB, how or did you get the remote control with your asus ion to work ?
Hi!
I have already installed 10.04 beta (64-bit) on an Acer Revo 3610. I have also compiled and installed xbmc 9.11. Unfortunately I don’t get 5.1 Sound working. The pc is connected to my LCD via HDMI and I have also attached it to my audio receiver via optical out. Whatever I change or whatever guide I follow, it’s only two channel sound (also within Linux with VLC player). Moreover, xbmc always says that the “audio device coudn’t initialized” when playing a file (audio settings changed to HDMI within xbmc). I am completely frustrated. The problem is that there are way to many guides on the internet to get 5.1 working with ION chipsets. Does anyone know a working one?
@ HB, I have also issues with sound. Tried to remove PulseAudio and use Alsa / OSSv4 instead, but no luck. Sound just drops out and comes back (Random, and takes 0,5 seconds > irritating)
But three weeks till release, so maybe a fix! (Problem confirmed on LaunchPad)
I have now changed to the ion specialised live-cd made by the “dutch xboxfreak”. Works like a charme from the beginning!
