Preview version – XBMCbuntu

Here’s a first preview version. Use at your own risk. This is a call to all AMD Fusion users to help me test and validate if playback is working correctly. Please do not file bug reports against the XBMC.org database. Use at your own risk.

    i just tested this .
    I don’t have a fusion motherboard (FM1 motherboard) but i have a amd 6450 card in my htpc.
    But i can say it doesn’t work for me .
    When i playback a mkv file it is choppy disabling he xvba it displays it normal.
    I don’t know if it’s really only for the fusion .
    I will keep testing when new stuff comes out.

    On AMD Fusion (e350) systems XBMC now plays video’s, without additional settings needed. VA-API is automatically detected and configured during boot.

    I tested this on my ZBox ID11, when i playback a mkv i have no sound (HDA Nvidia HDMI) this settings works fine on maverick-v2.iso, USB-Automount is also disabled.

    Ziet er allemaal heel erg goed uit.

    Getest op Asrock 152D en alleen het geluid werkte niet gelijk
    Het enigste wat nog ontbreekt is de installer, maar daar wordt hard aan gewerkt.

    Eigenlijk wachten we allemaal stiekem op de xbmcfreak versie :-)

    I have a e350 board. Works great with sd video. With vaapi enabled see a 60% drop in cpu usage. will try 1080p tonight. One question though…how do i install it to hardrive… I put cd in drive and automatically runs xbmc from cd with no install option like xbmc live 10.

    The installer is there, but you have to use unetbootin and an usb key for that.

    boots fine as a livecd but if you use the installer on reboot it hangs at the XBMC boot logo. Platform is an acer revo 3610. Same outcome on both v12 and v14. unetbootin used to create both.

    Niet allemaal hoor ;)

    Alle xbmcfreak functionaliteit (behalve bluray playback natuurlijk) heb ik hier zelf op een NAS. Zelf ben ik gewoon voornamelijk geinteresseerd in een zo supersnel mogelijk startende livecd en dat gaat deze ook al bieden ;)

    Ik krijg het geluid via HDMI niet aan de praat op een Asrock 330: Bij settings staat alles net zo als bij mijn oude installatie (waar wel alles het deed)

    On my Asus E35M1-I Deluxe AMD Fusion motherboard it works – almost. Im getting error message when trying to use it live: TCO timer: mmio address 0xfec000f0 already in use, and then the system starts. All things are working pretty well except 1080p playback – it’s getting blurry and sometimes big pixels are visible when playing dynamic scenes.

    Also; xbmc in visudo says that XBMC has root-rights!

    Installer is perfectly working in a virtual machine!

    @Carlo : Hmmm, I tried to sudo a few commands (including “sudo su”) and was prompted for a password. It was running live on the USB though. Might try an install and see how that goes.

    Please post the output of:

    lspci -nn | grep '0403' | grep '10de:0ac0'

    and;

    aplay -l

    This will allow me to look at your problem.

    This is a known Ubuntu issue..

    Some videos have artifacts because the fglrx driver actually doesn’t support H264 with Level >= 5.1. It’s a driver limitation that can’t be fixed at the moment.

    Ik kan vanavond weer met mijn asrock spelen: ik zal het dan zeker opzoeken:
    Nog wat extra info: ik was geboot vanaf stick. Wat ook niet werkte was het afspelen van muziek: zodra ik een MP3 wilde afspelen, rebootte xbmc. (ondanks alles zag het er weer strakker uit!: vooral de scrolbarr/slider bij het afspelen van videos is super).

    Ben nu met clonezilla een backup aan het maken van mijn huidige config, zodat ik dit weekend aan de slag kan met je nieuwe versie. :)

    Ik ben benieuwd op mijn ion330 :)

    Als ik try without installing doe , werkt alles behalve het geluid
    Ik heb handmatig hdmi geselecteerd en in de alsamixer alles unmuted maar ook dat geeft geen geluid.

    Als ik installer ubuntuxbmc doe , gaat alles goed tijdens de installatie maar na de reboot kom niet verder dan het eerste xbmc logo ( hij blijft hangen)

    Will this release also work on the asrock ion 330? Will there be an upgrade from Dharma possible or will I loose my library because I have to do a new install?

    I am having the same issue as twilightzone on my revo 1600. Installer worked upon restarting system hangs at xbmc logo. Testing Live CD now.

    There’s a known issue with the installer. We’ll look into this.

    Playing music also doesn’t work at the moment. To fix this; execute the following line:

    sudo aptitude install libmad0

    Control + ALT + F1
    passwd
    (Enter, eerste password is leeg)
    Daarna nieuw password aanmaken en vervolgens kan je inloggen met putty. Ik zal voor de volgende livecd een standaard wachtwoord aanmaken.
