New XBMCbuntu versions are followed quickly after each other. For this first time I have the installer working on my Zotac AMD Fusion nettop system. Perfect reason to do another blogpost!

Update 23 December 2011, version v20 with the following fixes:
- - Installer fixed on AMD Fusion systems
- - Installer slideshow less Lubuntu and more XBMCbuntu. Logo is shown and fonts aren’t distorted anymore
- - Default sound option added for Nvidia ION systems.
- - Backported Nvidia drivers to fix installation issue on some systems.
- - Syntax error fixed in the asoundrc config script for Nvidia ION users.
Again,On funtwist ION330 when i play a 1080p mkv video file (with chinese Subtitles) , frame drop or frame loss rate.
Can anyone fix the bug,thanks
I am using v20 with an acer revo r3610. It is really good, especially the wireless. However two problems:
1) The external hard drive with my movies etc was not detected on the videos screen but was on the picture screen and in the file manager. Therefore I can not setup movies or tvshows as I could in dharma.
2) HDMI Sound was not working. I used the ‘xbmc audio mixer’ (v 0.6) add-on from Dharma to unmute the HDMI sound, and then it worked.
Anyway, it looks fantastic.
Thanks. Any answers to the above two issues, especially issue (1) would be helpful.

For anyone having 1080p ‘stutter’ problems via ion/ ion2, the below from dharma works well (tested well here):

Looking forward to when the Eden beta hits the unstable PPA tree.
Thanks for a great release.
Ik heb net geprobeerd v20 te installeren. Werkt niet.
Alles verloopt eigenlijk goed, tot helemaal het einde.
Daar krijg ik een melding: apt configuration problem
An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed.
jammer..
I’ve tried to get the USB boot working but each time I get Boot Error message.
Using unetbootin and the iso.
Am I missing something obvious? Works fine if it burn to a CD
@Irv
Give it time; my zotac zbox took upwards of a minute to actually boot; it throws a boot error early on which makes you think it’s not working. I ended up re-creating the USB boot key twice before I figured it out.
Successfully installed to nT-330i. After install no sound over HDMI. Used tips from comments here and XBMC Wiki to run alsamixer command and set SPDIF 1 to unmute and sound outputs fine. So far working better than OpenElec, which was freezing randomly during movie playback. Thanks to all the hard work on this release and to posters for the tips!

Cheers fellas – got my asrock 330 up and running.
Ran Alsamixer to fix sound with spdif to unmute
Test with asus e35m1-l deluxe:
SD content: perfect
HDMI audio: perfect (“HDMI alsa”)
Issues
Vsync causes stuttering
HD content (+420p) causes bigpixels/textures issues
Ups, one more thing…
Anytime I install ati drivers for graphics, my panasonic plasma gets underscanning… like 10″ in my 50″ screen. I found this issue while installing drivers in previous ubuntu… with generic ubuntu drivers, the display match with the screen.
Cheers
XBMC beta 1 has hit the PPA, upgraded no issues. The Beta seems a lot faster response wise.
Can this be installed on a hdd? I’ve been trying to but it keeps loading from the cd and doesn’t install.
@Brendan
Brendan – how did you upgrade this to beta 1? do you have the step-by-steps?
@hydog
You will need to access the console, easiest way is to use an ssh client such as PuTTY, use the username and password you selected during install, then run the following two commands.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
The first command will refresh the package list, the second should identify at least two xbmc packages to update. Accept (y) the recommended update.
You will then need to reboot. AFAIK nothing else has changed for the beta, as a result this version of the Ubuntu install should work just fine.
@Maritza
When the boot menu appears, press esc to interrupt the boot process, press arrow keys to select the install option.
@Brendan
ok thanks I’ll try this again.
@Brendan
I did what you suggested. I got to the menu and selected install xbmc but I never get prompted to pick the partitions or anything else. The screen says xbmcubuntu then it boots into xbmc but never gets installed to the hdd. I’ve installed live disks before not sure why this isn’t working for me.
Hello,
Just letting you know that I have been running this version since the 22nd on a ViewSonic VOT132 ION with no issues. I have installed the Xeebo skin and am loving it. Thank you for all the awesome work you have put into this release.
Error message – An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the cd failed. Any ideas how to solve this.
