XBMCbuntu preview version – final call before official release!
This is a final preview version, before the official beta 3 XBMCbuntu will hit the servers of xbmc.org. Pay attention to the /tmp/debugInfo.txt file. If you encounter anything please post the content of this file on pastebin.com and add a link here.
Update 3 Feb 2012, version v31 with the following fixes/changes:

XBMCbuntu preview version – beta 2
Here’s another XBMCbuntu based on the latest development. It’s packaged with beta2. Here’s a small changelog:
Update 27 January 2012, version v30 with the following fixes/changes:
- fixes for drivers and software rendering
- installer visualisation fixes
Update 24 January 2012, version v29 with the following fixes/changes:
- new device identification for video cards
- libcrystalhd3 added, hopefully the crystalhd Errors are disappeared now
- libbluray added to fix blu-ray playback
- libnfs added, to fix nfs issues
Update 22 January 2012, version v28 with the following fixes/changes:
- XBMC Eden – beta 2.
- Small fonts installer issue fixed on Nvidia ION systems & televisions.

- libmpeg2-4 added to fix dvd playback.

PS: Indien jullie problemen hebben met software rendering ipv van hardware matige versnelling of het geluid dat ontbreekt, graag het volgende bestand /tmp/debugInfo.txt plaatsen op pastebin met een link naar de website. Anders zijn we helaas niet in staat het probleem te onderzoeken!!
XBMC 11.0 Eden: Beta 2 partially available now!
Although no official post has been made on xbmc.org it looks like beta 2 has been released already! See here the details. To upgrade your current XBMCbuntu installation just type: “sudo apt-get update, followed by sudo apt-get upgrade“.

XBMCbuntu preview version – git20120111 edition
Here’s another version of XBMCbuntu. The packages in used in this version come from Mario Sitz. These are the latest packages and should be more stable than beta 1. The issue with the small fonts and installer on Nvidia ION systems and televisions is still present in this release.
Update 13 January 2012, version v27 with the following fixes/changes:
- Latest package from master, pre beta 2.
- Fixed “ERROR: Unable to open audio mixer” on most of the systems, due to new XBMC package.
- Libmpeg2 added to fix dvd menu playback.
- ethtool added.
- Pink background on openbox fixed.
XBMCbuntu repo open for public
The XBMCbuntu repository is now public. If you’re interested to help this is the url. Good chance XBMCbuntu will make it’s official debut with beta 2!
XBMCbuntu preview version – Windy day edition
Here’s another version with more fixes. I added the system temperature and additional sources on the livecd as well! Looking forwards to your results.

- Fix: unmute sound for all first gen nvidia ion systems
- Fix: set AMD underscan after inital config has been made

- Changed cputemp script to make it more generic.

- Added cpu and gpu temperature support.
- Added “GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H NVIDIA GeForce 9400″ support.
- Pictures, Movies, Music and TV shows folders are created and added as local sources.
- Fixed “ERROR: Unable to open audio mixer” on various systems, NVidia GT 430 for example.
- Changed the way ubiquity is started and the proprietary drivers are configured.
