Has been quite for a while.. But today something nice leaked to the web. The Verge has obtained photos of the next generation Boxee TV. DVR functionality is supported, as well all the web apps. The new Boxee Box is manufactured by D-Link. More photo’s and info below.

Mag het wel 10x beter gaan worden, boxee zelf als portal is niet echt vergelijkbaar met xbmc. Nu is het niet snel, niet makkelijk, niet custom/aanpasbaar/closed source en genoeg formaten dat gewoon niet lekker afspeeld/doorspoelt/skipt etc.. (behalve avi/mpg) maar dat is mijn mening.
Overigens een simpele “shutdown after xx” zit er volgens mij ook niet op. Misschien bied dit kastje meer hoop

Ik heb zelf de boxeebox en voel me aardig genaaid ,boxeebox wordt niet verder ondersteunt (alleen bug fixes).
En dit ding werk alleen in de VS ,kost $99,- en voor $15,- in de maand krijg kan je programma’s opnemen in de Cloud ?
En als kicker de identificatie van film en series (artwork en omschrijvingen enz.) werken niet meer bij de BoxeeTV.
Dit ding is bagger met een hoofdletter B ,zolang de apps nog werken op boxeebox zal ik hem gebruiken ,daarna een xbmc of openelec machine bouwen.
Sounds all great but I see no slot for a CAM or smart card, so this will be completely useless for the Dutch market as all our Cable providers (and DVB-T) are using smartcards. (not to mention the encryption type for which we normaly need to use a CAM)
Too bad, I am still looking for a XBMC (like) sollution with DVR capabilities.

Just bought a second hand anysee E30 Combo plus. It’s a USB DVB-T/C tuner with softCAM.
This tuner should work with most Dutch providers and is capable of handling MPEG4 streams.
Via marktplaats.nl these tuners can be bought around 50 euro’s.
This week I’ll try to get things working on an Asrock ION330 running Win7 32-bit.
Preferably using XBMC as frontend.
