Audio Nvidia ION2 and latest XBMC

For those trying to get Audio working on the latest XBMC live cd’s; before you start please have a look at this page:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_set_up_HDMI_audio_on_nVidia_GeForce_G210,_GT220,_or_GT240

For the Zotac HD-ID11 it should be:

/etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf

options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xffff,0xfff2

I have a Zotac Zbox HD-ID11, and this does not fix the issue for me. I haven’t been able to get sound working on this or the svn 31632 version, both of which have Alsa 1.0.23.

I’ve been testing most of the LiveCDs as you’ve posted them, and the only way for me to currently get sound working is to use the svn 31495 LiveCD posted a few weeks ago, and then follow these instructions, with the exception that I’ve been using the 256.35 nvidia driver.

If you have any troubleshooting suggestions, I’d be happy to test them out! Thanks for all of the work you put into these.

I have not been able to get audio working on the latest version (svn 32178) or the svn 31632, both of which have alsa 1.0.23.

The only way I’ve been able to get audio over HDMI is to use the svn 31495 version and follow these instructions, except I used the latest nvidia 256.35 driver.

I have an ID11 and have struggled with sound too but got it working tonight with a slight mod to the above. ‘/etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf’ did not exist in my build (32178) so I added the line ‘options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xffff,0xfff2′ to the end of the other options listed in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf’, rebooted and set the audio under settings-audio output to “Audio Output=HDMI (2 channel) for my LCD TV, “Audio Output Device”=HDA NVidia hdmi and “Passthrough Output Device”=iec958 and it now works a treat. I now get audio through HDMI to my LCD when there is no Dolby soundtrack and Dolby/AC3 audio to my Toslink input on my amp when it exists. Just need to tweak settings to get the GUI clicks working again.

Let me know if you’d like screenshots.
